Matcha-Ya

Hello, Awesome Humans 😊

I hope we’re all doing well. 😊

Before I begin, I want to make Acknowledgement of Country. I want to acknowledge the First Nations People as the traditional custodians of this land. I am coming to you from Gadigal of the Eora Nation.

My dearest friends know, I absolutely love matcha and any product that has matcha in it! I’ve been drinking Japanese matcha, and matcha related products for over 13 years. Jeez, I sound old >,<

I went into my local Coles supermarket and went into the Asian food aisle. Guess who I bumped into? Matcha Green Tea Latte with tapioca pearls.

I’ve never seen matcha in a can. Of course, knowing myself I couldn’t resist buying it!

The Matcha Green Tea Latte with tapioca pearls came in a 490mL can. It cost me $5. If you have any allergens to milk, then I suggest you give this product a miss. This product contains 43 grams of sugar. That’s a lot of sugar!

I’m a fan of boba, or bubble tea whatever you like to call it! I have been hooked on bubble tea, since I was 18 years old. Back in the day, I had a habit of drinking two bubble teas a day. So, you can image going to uni and work five days a week. You can do that math :P When I used to purchase my freshly made boba, I would be able to adjust the sweetness level.

The matcha latte reminded me of the many Taiwanese and Korean cafés I used to go too. I’ve been lucky to have enjoyed my fair share of authentic bubble tea café experiences. While I sipped on my canned matcha green tea latte, I pleasantly reminisced back to those days.

The company, Lotus Peak has hit the nail on the head with this matcha latte with tapioca pearls. It has the right consistency of matcha powder and milkiness from the full cream milk. The matcha latte uses a share-grown green tea powder taste. With every sip of the matcha, it gives this milky and frothy drink like sweetness of Moorish vegetal taste. It doesn’t have the slight bitter taste, as you would find in ceremonial grades of matcha. The 43 grams of sugar gives it that added sweetness, especially with the added tapioca pearls. I do suggest stirring the tapioca pearls in between sips. Otherwise, you can pour the contents into a mason jar for an enjoyable experience!

I was fortunate to enjoy this chilled and straight from the fridge.

The tapioca pearls were chewy and pleasantly tasty. The chewy pearls complimented the matcha green tea experience.

This can is 10 cents refundable at collection depots/points in participating State/Territory of purchase.

This was the second time I’ve tried a Lotus Peak product. I’ve tried their White Tea poppers in the past. I am yet to try out their other bubble tea drink ranges.

Feel free to check out my other boba tasting experience.

Overall, I give this product a 4/5. I enjoyed the matcha green tea latte café experience, in a can. Although, it was too sweet to my liking I still enjoyed it! I personally don’t have a sweet tooth. The complimenting balance of the matcha green tea latte and milkiness from the full cream milk was enjoyable! I would be curious to try out this flavour with non-diary alternative milks. I would repurchase this product again. It is a bit on the pricey side.

Have you ever tried any of Lotus Peak products? If so, please share your experience with you 😊

Stay safe lovelies

Until next time 😊
