Non-Diary Iced Coffee
Hello, Beautiful Humans😊
I hope you’re all doing well.
Before I begin, I want to make Acknowledgement of Country . I want to acknowledge the First Nations People as the traditional custodians of this land. I am coming to you from Gadigal of the Eora Nation.
Today, I am reviewing two non-diary iced coffee flavours from First Press. The first is the Iced Coffee Oat Milk Double Shot, and Iced Coffee Almond Milk Double Shot. Both flavours come in a 350mL carton. The 350mL carton reminds me of the perfect lunchbox drink to pack on the go! I love the bottle cap on this carton. It is a brilliant idea if you like to slowly sip your coffee as you, please. It makes you in charge of your iced coffee experience! 😊
Both iced coffees cost me $4.00 each from my local Woolworths supermarket.
The Iced Coffee Oat Milk Double Shot had a naturally sweet and oat milk flavour. I found the strength of the caffeine to be well balanced with the cold drip coffee used, in this product. The oat milk gives a great richness in the taste of the drip coffee. The oat milk gives a surprisingly full-bodied non-diary milk experience with such richness in taste compared to whole diary milk. I like drinking my coffee with full cream milk and/or almond milk. This was my second time drinking oat milk in iced coffee.
I assume First Press has used sunflower oil from a combination of 10% oats used in this product. Hence, that gives the result of the full-bodied non-diary milk experience full of richness.
It’s no wonder oat milk has become a popular non-diary milk alternative. If you are a health-conscious person, then you’ll enjoy the fiber content and relatively little fat without sacrificing the protein. Personally, I don’t care about calories and/or protein. As long as I enjoy my coffee experience, then I’m a happy camper! 😊
The oat milk and double shot of drip coffee had a creamy taste that was similar to full cream milk in coffee. With each sip, I loved the smooth texture of the oat milk that was blended easily with the drip coffee. I am yet to try oat milk in my flat white coffee.
The Iced Coffee Almond Milk Double Shot had a slightly sweet, nutty flavour and a light texture. I found the strength of the caffeine could have been stronger. It could be that the almond milk is mostly made up of water. The oat milk was creamier with the cold drip coffee. First Press did achieve the right balance between the almond milk and drip coffee.
Coffee-loving hipsters will know that almond milk can curdle in coffee similar reason to soy milk. With almond milk, you need to be careful with its reaction to the acidity of your types of coffee roasts and brands. I loved the nutty flavour from this flavour with each sip. There was a slight bitter taste from the drip coffee that I loved. I prefer unsweetened almond milk, but I had no problem with the level of sweetness. Overall, I enjoyed the smooth and nutty taste of this flavoured iced coffee.
These cartons are 10 cents refundable at collection depots/points in participating State/Territory of purchase.
Overall, I enjoyed trying out these two iced coffee flavours. I prefer the Iced Coffee Almond Milk Double Shot and would repurchase this product again. I like the unique carton style of packaging, especially if you’re like me who enjoys their coffee with slow sips. I will never stop raving about the bottle cap.
I give the Iced Coffee Almond Milk Double Shot a 4/5, and the Iced Coffee Oat Milk Double Shot a 3.5/5. I think I am still new to the whole oat milk taste. I’m still open to trying it out again. I would still repurchase the oat milk flavour, but my preferred choice is the almond milk.
Do you prefer oat milk, or almond milk as a non-diary alternative?
Stay safe lovelies
Until next time 😊
